Dr Tony Attwood: Clinical Psychologist, world-renowned expert on aspergers syndrome, author

Tony Attwood is a clinical psychologist who has specialised in autism spectrum disorders since he qualified as a clinical psychologist in England in 1975. He works in private practice in Brisbane but is also an adjunct Associate Professor at Griffith University in Queensland.

Tony has written several publications on Aspergers Syndrome. His book, Aspergers Syndrome: A Guide for Parents and Professionals, has sold over 300,000 copies and has been translated into 20 different languages.

Tony has worked with over 3,000 individuals of all ages with an autism spectrum disorder. He presents workshops and runs training courses for parents, professionals and individuals with an autism spectrum disorder all over the owrld and is a prolific author of scientific papers and books on the subject. His new book The Complete Guide to Aspergers Syndrome was published in October 2006. His presentations are informative and empowering.

Course Content:

Cognitive Abilities: A Different Way of Thinking and Learning: The unusual profile of cognitive abilities associated with autism and Asperger's syndrome is described with an emphasis on the profile of intellectual abilities, problems with executive function, attention and weak central coherence. 

Managing Challenging Behaviour in Children with Autism: Provides an explanation and strategies for repetitive behaviour, emotion management, development of effective communication systems, self-injurious behaviour, improving social understanding and coping with change.

Who should attend?

Teacher Aides, Teachers, SENCOs, School Principals, RTLBs, SLTs, OTs, GSE Staff, Psychologists, Paediatricians, other service providers and Families.

Numbers will be limited for each seminar so early registration is recommended.
